Mojo Monday 150 & Inkspirations Colour Challenge #34

Hi Everyone

Mojo Monday challenge #150 looked interesting, and the Inkspirations Colour Challenge #34 was unusual, so I decided to give it a try.

I  used the Bella Bleu DSP papers (retiring 31 Aug), and tried Dawn McVey's scrunchy button flowers. Click here for her tutorial - fabulous! Thanks Dawn!  LOVE the flower as a focal point - beautiful texture and dimension and very fun to do!

I dry embossed the Close to Cocoa panel for a bit of texture. The sentiment was from PTI's Tea for Two Additions. I stamped More Mustard cardstock with PTI's Background Additions Type II in Close to cocoa ink, punched out 5 scallop circles with SU's scallop circle punch, put a brad through them and scrunched away! Then I threaded a button from Spotlight that matched perfectly with Close to Cocoa with recycled thread from a clothes tag.  The coordinating More Mustard brads came from SU's Earth Elements Brads.  The scallop edge on the Kraft pattern paper was punched out by removing the paper guides from the EK success corner rounder (broader than the SU corner rounder).  Lastly I sponged everything with Close to Cocoa ink to tie everything together.

Wedding Invitation Cards

Hi all!

I am making some wedding invitation cards for my sis-in-law, and thought I would share them with you.

Here are some ideas.....papers were from various shops. Theme was classic and elegant. I used the Big Shot and the Sizzlits 4-pk Lots of Tags die from Stampin' Up in the first 2 cards. Also the Wide Oval Punch and Sincere Salutations Stamp Set from Stampin' Up (love these!!). The cards had to be simple enough for "mass production". The font I downloaded for free online.

Love to hear your comments, thoughts, suggestions, questions. My favourite is the black and white card with "birthday wishes"! I really like the handmade paper with silver flowers too. So gorgeous!

Inkspirations Colour Challenge #28

Hi everyone

this week I really like the color combo for the Inkspirations Colour Challenge #28:

I also really liked the Mojo Monday #144 layout which I thought was rather cute:

So I combined the two above and created this:

I am quite pleased with this card! I didn't have any matching printed papers so all the papers were plain cardstock inked up with stamps.

The main image, polka dot strip and greeting was made with stamps from Papertrey Ink. The cardstock, Tres Chic background stamp, inks, labels sizzlits die, wide oval punch and choc chip ribbon were from Stampin' Up. The greeting was too long to fit into the oval so I managed to ink up parts of it with the SU choc chip marker to make it fit. I didn't have Pumpkin Pie buttons so I used buttons from spotlight. Oh, how I love buttons!!!

I ran out of whisper white envelopes so I used the vanilla, dressing it up with Choc Chip DSP spotty paper on the flap. Makes the card look a bit more posh and only takes a few seconds!

Have a great week (or what's left of it)....

Cute Stationery Box with Handmade Cards, Notes, Tags

Hi there!

I saw this stationery box tutorial by Jackie Topa on splitcoaststampers and decided this was the perfect gift to make! My friend asked me to donate some handcrafted cards for her church's quiz night prize so I thought this would be lovely.

This is what the box looks like, it needs to be made with extra heavy pattern paper like the Sweet Slumber Specialty DSP:

Lift the lid and the box unfolds out with pockets for cards, note cards, tags, and even space for a pen, postage stamps, and a mini book to write in (e.g. birthdays)! This is soooo cute!

Close up of the cards and tags:

Hope you like this project!

Inkspirations Sketch Challenge #27

Hi there!

Gasp - I can't believe my last post on my blog was in Dec 09! Where has the time gone?!

Well last night I decided to give Keesh's Inkspirations Sketch Challenge #27 a go, and I decided to use the Haiku Designer Series Papers which are on sale at the moment (last day today Tues 15th June) for $10.17 a pack. I thought the Haiku DSP would go very well with the Asian Artistry stamp set!

Here is Keesh's fabulous sketch (love it!):

and here is my creation:

I must admit it was really enjoyable sitting down at my craft desk creating cards again. Very therapeutic! :) hope you enjoyed the card. Check out the entries for this challenge here.

Have you been doing any craft lately? Maybe it's time to get back into it! :)
